[RP] Beginner's Luck
{ Note: Picking up from where we left off... }
Allura never quite believed in "beginner's luck", but if she took Shiro's victory against Myzax, and their making it out of Altea in one piece and in one go as foreshadowing, then perhaps she should not be surprised to see "Team Voltron"'s first battle to go well.
Then again, she would not have it any other way, and she was not out to take that for granted.
Once the Lions have returned to their respective hangars, she left the command center to meet with Coran and the support team he had assembled for her. She knew that the Paladins, Shiro in particular, would have questions for her, and she had made it known that she will always have time for them. But for the time-being, she decided to leave Shiro to handle his team. The Black Lion would not have vouched for him if he needed to be cajoled into his role, and for that, Allura knew that she can put her mind at ease in that regard.
Though she did note that she might need some one-on-one time with them, soon. For now, they are in Shiro's hands.

1) Katie
All Katie wanted was to put one foot forward after the other, to keep going, to keep moving. Being thrown from one point of the universe to another for a year, to only have crumbs for clues as where her father and Matt might be, not knowing whether they were even alive was nerve-wracking. Part of her wished that the it wasn't Shiro who had come with Allura, because she knew that once Allura arrived, no more "gifts" would be sent out from Altea to Arus. It was that frustration that fueled her fight. She wasn't quite sure either what ignited their forming Voltron, but she was willing to bet that a huge chunk of it was wanting to sock Zarkon in the jaw, to put things mildly.
Katie exited her lion in a huff, practically tearing her helmet off of her head, and not too enthusiastic to answer Lance's call for a victory chest-bump. She was storming her way out of the hangar, but there was only so much ground her shorter legs could cover in so much time...

2) Keith
Put together the time he had been kicked out of the Garrison, along with a year under Galra slavery, it was time too long away from flying. It was also time too long away from the people that mattered most to him -- people he can count on one hand. He hadn't been able to show it, but boy, was he glad and relieved to see Shiro again.
If left to his devices -- to his own decisions, to his own impulse -- Keith knew that he would just be getting by. But whether it was fate, his own dumb luck, or the hand of a higher power, people came his way to look out for him -- in the camps, in one of the fighting pits, and in Allura's castle. He can't even tell exactly what pushed him to survive -- fire can only be contained for so long, unless it was extinguished. But he wanted to survive, he wanted to live, and now, he wanted to show the Galra that they messed with the wrong people, the wrong person...
Senses still ringing from the high brought by the battle, Keith lingers inside the Red Lion, replaying the fight in his mind's eye and counting and recounting the Galra fighters he shot down. He doesn't want to hear any of Lance's cacophony, as the sounds of battle and of the Red Lion's roar were music to his ears.
