[ Ed had actually spotted his favourite superior several minutes earlier. Roy was not an easy person to miss, because he always seemed to earn the attention of the ladies and the ire of the men when he entered a room. While Ed would usually move to approach a person he recognized, he deliberately passed on greeting Roy. The evening was lousy enough already. He did not need certain eyesores to make things worse!

So, when Roy finally approaches, Ed appears to bristle, chomping down on his eclairs with a gradually souring look on his face. He's in no hurry to respond, still chewing on his pastry when he turns to shoot Roy a rather sulky, irritated look. He only speaks after swallowing. ]

G'eh. I was hoping you wouldn't see me and come over. [ He loves you Roy. Really. Ed turns, picking up another tiny pastry. ] You can blame Al for that. Kept saying something about how we needed to socialize more -- I don't know what he's going on about.

[ Ed has a perfectly active social life, okay. Nevermind that he pretty much never does anything that could be considered a leisure activity. There's a beat. ]

Winry wanted to go too. [ With both Al and Winry putting the pressure on him, Ed pretty much has no choice. ]
